Glencoe Full Marathon

Date

08th September 2019

Location

Glencoe, Scotland

This is the wilderness – a tough off-road 26.2 miles with a total ascent of 1608m.

The route

We start in the heart of Glencoe (30m above sea level) and head west through the stunning Glencoe past Loch Achtriochtan and in between two legendary hill ranges – to your left the Aonach Eagach Ridge and to your right the Three Sisters and Ossians Cave. This section climbs 330m over 13km.

On reaching Altnafeadh the route turns north and the incline steepens to climb the Devil’s Staircase up to a height of 548m followed by a descent back to sea level at Kinlochleven.

The 326m climb out of Kinlochleven can come as a surprise! The route undulates around the south west of the Mamores Mountains until you descend east into Glen Nevis. The finish line in Glen Nevis - under the shadow of the mighty Ben Nevis - will be a very welcome sight!
